So many people loved the Wolf of Wall Street meme that Baker published when we thought we had him locked up as defensive coordinator. People relished the nasty talk of death row defense. And now many cry because they think they've been betrayed, many of them bemowning the insult of Baker leaving for another program. How can you do this to us after posting such lovely memes and saying such gracious words. Here's the thing folks, when you're dancing with the wolf sometimes the wolf bites back .
I'm not saying that I enjoy the fact that Baker is going to LSU. But I have full confidence in our leadership team that we will find a defensive coordinator to lead this team next year. I have full confidence that this defense will do all that it can to compliment the offense and we should see ourselves in the playoffs next year. But here's the thing... When you love being the nasty one, when you love the idea the wolf is on your side, you have to remember the wolf is still a wolf. And at this level the wolves like to feed.
Good luck in Godspeed to coach Baker and his family. I love what he accomplished here and the memories of the cotton bowl will never fade. What an amazing season. But now he's on the other side, and it's time to find a new leader... One who will be ready to go up against this wolf who now resides at LSU. No hard feelings, just standing on business...
