2023 Boston College

Played the #3 ranked Florida St. Seminoles in week 3 of the season and damn near beat them. https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore/_/gameId/401525500

This is a game where FSU was playing their all world QB Jordan Travis.

Boston College's leading Rusher and passer in that game returned in 2024. What's changed is they added Bill Obrien as their head coach.

Also, BC ended their 2023 season beating the #17 SMU team in a bowl game. So they have now beaten their last 2 ranked opponents.

I know all the talk on here is how bad THIS year's Florida State team is. I just thought some would like to know they played an outstanding FSU team last year down to the wire.

Just win baby. MIZ

Injuries

Sounded like Cam'Ron Johnson would have played were the opponent a little more threatening. Would think he's back vs BC.

Assuming they're telling the truth and Luther was just sick, no reason to think he won't be back.

Hearing Norfleet likely to be another week or two. Thinking it will be Stephens and Harris at TE against BC. Possibly against Vandy too, give him the bye week to get healthy and come back vs A&M, but not sure on a time table. My guess is he'll be "questionable" this week, but based on what I'm hearing I wouldn't expect him to play.

FOOTBALL Mizzou and our EASY Schedule

This hit me this weekend, that hearing people say this should not be taken as the backhanded comment most are hearing it for. If this is the "normal" Mizzou most would say the majority would be tough games for us. Saying they are easy to me means they are acknowledging we are that damn good, without having to say it. (Yes I still think it gets to the majority of the SEC where we are now).

After the 2013 season was over everyone said it was because the SEC East was down, same in 2014. Anytime other teams don't win, YES, they are down. There are now 16 teams in the SEC and if we beat all of the ones on our schedule, I don't care if they all had a "down" year. Win them all and no one cares after it is over.

Enjoy this, enjoy every minute of it

Guys, I've been around Mizzou football a long time, times like these do not come along very often (hopefully it will become regular) but my advice, enjoy it, see it as you will see in in 20 years, when you look back and talk about the special 2 seasons. Soak it up, record some great pictures and keep ahold of them. These are wonderful times, enjoy them to the fullest. If we go to the play offs get a ticket and don't worry about the cost, make the trip. It is a great time to be a Tiger, this is what we live for.

FOOTBALL SP+ Week Two

Mizzou - 7th
  • +0 spots from week one
  • Offensive Ranking: 8th (0)
  • Defensive Ranking: 15th (-2)
  • Special Teams Ranking: 25th (-10)
Mizzou Opponents:
  • Buffalo - 121 (-10 spots)
  • Boston College - 55 (+15 spots)
  • Vanderbilt - 72 (+12 spots)
  • A&M - 20 (+4 spots)
  • UMASS - 130 (+1 spots)
  • Auburn - 23 (-7 spots)

  • Oklahoma - 19 (-8 spots)
  • South Carolina - 32 (+16 spots)
  • Miss State - 51 (-11 spots)
  • Arkansas - 35 (-8 spots)
An important thing to consider: this is supposed to be a predictive tool. It is not a resume ranking. This model is still not high on our next two opponents even though the AP Voters are.

That One Play

I have been a fan for a long time, so I know way more about the Tigers than you do. I noticed this one play in the 2nd quarter that I am sure you and the entire stadium and all the fans watching from home missed. You see I dissect each and every play because when I was younger, I was not much of an athlete so I always had a chip on my shoulder because my dad would call me lazy. I knew I wasn't lazy because I would play Tecmo bowl for hours on end. I found out that if I just run Bo Jackson every play, I could not be beat. I FIGURED THAT OUT, NOT YOU. I didn't need someone to tell me or my dad to be all over my ass about not being smart enough. While everyone else was using Reggie Cobb and the Buccaneers I played with every team until I found Bo Jackson. That work ethic is still true today when I watch Tiger games.

I joined this website to try and be part of a community that had fans like me. Fans that can spot things throughout the game that normal fans who never played the game could pick up on. I watch the linebackers instead of the ball. I notice how they shed blocks and how fast they get downhill to make a tackle. I can tell when a freshman player is fast, and their spin move is on a better axis, so he falls forward instead of backwards. I thought this place was the place for me, but I continue to be just darn mad that other fans can't pick up on these little nuances of the game. It sucks that I see things on the field that others don't. I wish I knew I had this talent when I played youth sports. I may still be playing today. Instead, I try and instill this knowledge into my kids in hopes that one day I will be the parent in the stands the camera pans to during a big play. I am a big believer that pushing my son every day and telling his coach what I see on the field will surpass genetics every day of the week.

And even on the small chance my son isn't good enough to play college. I will search every high school for the next Bo Jackson. I will bring that info to this board so that you will be the first to hear about him. I will let you know of every 6'3" kid out there that has a chance to play Varsity as a Sophomore. You will remember ME as that poster you first heard the name of the next great athlete that the Tigers need to pursue. A true difference maker! A Rayon Simmons type player that is a can't miss.

Back to that one play I saw. We can't make that mistake when we get into SEC play. That stuff needs to be cleaned up or this team is going 7-5. I love my Tigers!

-The biggest fan there is. Figuratively and hypothetically.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING Michael Clayton II update

Missouri’s top 2026 QB target was at Nebraska over the weekend.

He’s visited Mizzou twice over the summer and will return for the Oklahoma game later this season.

NEW STORY INSTANT REACTION TO MIZZOU'S 38-0 WIN OVER BUFFALO

1) Even the most optimistic people couldn't have quite seen this coming from the Missouri defense, right? I know what the competition has been. But the last time Mizzou opened a season with back to back shutouts was 1935 and the opposition was William Jewell and Central Missouri State. The Tigers have given up 14 first downs. They have given up 254 total yards and just 82 passing yards through two full games. I do not care who you're playing, that's absolutely incredible. We all came into this season thinking the offense would be dominant and allow the defense time to catch up. I'm not sure the defense needs that time.

2) The most impressive part about it is they haven't had a whole bunch of negative plays or sacks. They're just playing incredibly sound defense every down. Through two games, they haven't allowed a 20-yard play. They've allowed only three of more than nine yards. They gave up just 55 yards after the catch tonight. There are no missed assignments, no blown coverages and to my recollection, no penalties. They've just been rock solid every single snap.

3) What about the offense you ask? It was okay. Not great, but not awful. Only one or two real big plays. But they've outscored their opposition 59-0 in the first half. They've done plenty. Have they missed some plays? Yes. Does the passing game look a beat off? Yes. But Brady Cook used his legs tonight, they've got eight rushing touchdowns and they've looked better through two weeks than they looked the first two weeks last year. And Missouri was still 32/40 and the only interception was a desperation throw on the run on fourth down. The big plays haven't come, but the passing game hasn't been bad; it just hasn't been great. If you want to concern yourself about it, you can. If you want to convince yourself it will be a problem in week seven, fine. I'm not yet concerned.

4) Surprising big performance of the game: Joe Moore. He was all over the backfield. He didn't have a tackle, but had a PBU, a sack and three quarterback hurries. And he's the fourth defensive end. This defensive line is DEEP. I don't know if they have a singular standout star, but they're running a ton of guys out there which keeps everybody fresh all game long. And that matters more in week eight than it does in week two.

5) Blake Craig has a gigantic leg. His 51-yarder would have been good from 60. The 52-yarder was a little short, but it was also into a decent breeze. A 1/3 performance isn't ideal, but the shortest kick was also 49 yards. Those aren't kicks you necessarily count on. If he makes everything under 40, I'm good with a 50% success rate beyond 50. I think tonight was a good chance to get him a couple of testing kicks though, so his first long one isn't in a more high pressure situation.
