I don't know how bad the labrum tear was, and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that Cook, even with a torn labrum, was our best option during the regular season. But why not get him fixed up asap and let Horn prepare and run the show for the bowl game? I know we all want to win but its just the Gasparilla bowl and we lost anyways. That's what really has me questioning.

—Gates! The man can flat out coach. The switch to the zone in the second half was brilliant. Changed the pace, flustered Kentucky. Again, to show this kind of development and chemistry after only 13 games? Remarkable!

—I’ve been a big critic of Kobe because he always seemed to disappear in big games. No more. And never mind the 30 points. The fact he did that while spending much of his time at the other end of the floor defending Oscar was remarkable. Oscar got his points and rebounds, but he had to work for every one of them. Largely because of Kobe.

—Only eight turnovers in a game like that is impressive. It’s even more impressive when you consider that five of them came in a short stretch in the first half. That means they had only three turnovers in the last 30 minutes or so. That comes after they turned it over just twice in the first half against Illinois. Which brings us to …

—Nick Honor. What a game he had. Only four points but six assists and nary a turnover in 35 minutes. Such a steadying presence. Plus, you won’t see a better pass than the one he made to Gomillion on the backdoor cut. Sick! And remember when this team didn’t have even one point guard? East provided a real spark coming off the bench in the first half, scoring 12 points when Kentucky looked like it was about to make a run.

Seriously, does Drink have some skeletons in the closet that can be exposed? How do you make the two decisions with Bazelak and Cook and be trusted to do this job from here on out? Dude is going in to a Cuonzo Martin last season at best. I don't even trust him to make good decisions at RB or O-line either with the way Shrader was getting all the carries for some reason. I think I've seen enough. Playing hurt QBs when you have capable players at that position on your roster is inexcusable.

Who do you guys like in the afternoon SEC bowl games? I'm thinking ND -5 and Tennessee +4. If you have thoughts on Ohio vs Wyoming, I'd like to hear about that game as well. I think I am going to go with Ohio, because I hear that Wyoming is decimated in the transfer portal.

Staley with 4 D1 kids is unreal. Colorado St., Iowa State, Indiana State (all Srs)…Soph with an ole Miss offer. Neff is as good of a HS coach that you will find. All rocking MoKan bags where Neff coaches. Guessing they didn’t attend North Kansas City School District elementary schools. Soph could fit with what Gates is doing. Will walk to 6A State title.

North Kansas City has some young guards that get up and down. NKC is fast and finishes well in transition. Scored 100+ multiple times this year already. Too small to compete for a title. Liberty played them tough tonight. I didn’t expect that close of a game. Liberty is down this year. I didn’t see the game but I assumed it would be a blowout. NKC has a great coach (Fritz) as well. Fun team to watch.

Biggest surprise of the tourney for me…the freshman from Grain Valley. Offense runs through him and has great upside. Head coaches kid. Herbert…remember that name.

Oak Park can play too…lost to Staley by a LOT earlier this year. Second best team in the area was given their place early. Worth a trip to watch a game.

Couple of D1 football players playing, but not great hoopers. Laster, Jr. Liberty North (can go wherever he wants), Bell, Sr. Park Hill (Michigan & Simone Winner), Javon Smith, Sr. LN (TBD). St. Pius Max Ervie (Jr) is too small for D1, but he can play…high athleticism. Nothing else worth noting from the teams I watched.

It's simply anecdotal evidence of the hard work and desire to improve that this team shows

I have a seen a few random posts on here about how this kid has been doing well behind the scenes. I have no clue if thats true or not but wondering what the inside scoop is with this kid. We were his only Power 5 offer and it came on the eve of National Signing Day. It appears that he played on a team in H.S. that won a few Alabama State Titles (no clue the quality of competition). Seems odd for a kid to fly so far under the radar. When he signed he was listed at 6 "4" 340lbs so I doubt there was a size issue holding offers back. Anybody willing to share some optimism on this kid (or any other OL currently on the roster) is greatly welcomed while we await Drink and Co. to reinforce the OL in the portal.

I have been told by people who would know there was an agreement between the coaching staff and Sam's parents to take things slowly (Redshirt) this year. Sam's parents thought it would benefit Sam for him to have a year to adjust to school and college football. I think the one series (& only one) in the New Mexico State game was all you were going to see. There are a lot of dynamics to be managed. Odom was incredibly popular with the players and Drink has had to navigate the transition. I think he has done a pretty good job considering COVID. I think the team is improving but next year (obviously) is huge.

Grayson McCall or Sam Hartman? At this point, we gotta print the blank check for either of these kids.
