Attempting a rational post outside of the “Cook is awful” posts. He isn’t awful, he makes some decent plays here and there, but what he is is simply not good enough. Mizzou doesn’t have enough of a talent gap with anyone to be able to overcome his shortcomings. Just off the top of my head there are several easy throws Cook missed that could have made a difference in the game and that’s really where he fails. 2nd and 17 and Burden is wide open on a short out route for an easy 9 yards that would have made it a manageable 3rd down, instead he sails it 4 yards over his head setting up basically an automatic punt. 3rd and 4 and Miller is wide open on the flat and somehow he misses him by like 2 yards, drive stalls out after another poor throw on 4th down. Last year in the bowl game against Army he missed a wide open 2 point conversion. I’m sure there are countless other examples but he simply misses way too many opportunities. Can’t expect perfection but we need much better.
