FOOTBALL Cook

Attempting a rational post outside of the “Cook is awful” posts. He isn’t awful, he makes some decent plays here and there, but what he is is simply not good enough. Mizzou doesn’t have enough of a talent gap with anyone to be able to overcome his shortcomings. Just off the top of my head there are several easy throws Cook missed that could have made a difference in the game and that’s really where he fails. 2nd and 17 and Burden is wide open on a short out route for an easy 9 yards that would have made it a manageable 3rd down, instead he sails it 4 yards over his head setting up basically an automatic punt. 3rd and 4 and Miller is wide open on the flat and somehow he misses him by like 2 yards, drive stalls out after another poor throw on 4th down. Last year in the bowl game against Army he missed a wide open 2 point conversion. I’m sure there are countless other examples but he simply misses way too many opportunities. Can’t expect perfection but we need much better.

FOOTBALL Turd necklace

Disappointing to see such ugly offensive football. Progress is not a straight line but that sure looked like regression to me. Sure some pieces were missing, but so was the execution. This could have been a momentum builder going into the offseason. Instead this one stinks like a turd necklace. Hate it for the players.

Off-season Checklist

1. Hire OC with QB development.
2. Find a better QB with passing success and experience.
3. Fire Marcus Johnson and hire an Oline Coach who can recruit and teach technique. Our guys seem get beat off the snap a lot.
4. Find 3 interior olineman in the portal to start.
5. Find some DEs who can pass rush.
6. Find another RB.
7. I’d assume we will need a RB/WR coach possibly.

You can’t have all 3…

1.) Underperforming Oline that gets penalized constantly.
2.) QB who can’t throw well
3.) Undersized Div II running back transfer.

You can get away with one of those. To me, you let go of the Oline Coach and focus there first. They have been horrible and have made a lot of penalties.

QB situation is not good. I appreciate Brady, but we can be way better. If you can’t get a major upgrade as a transfer, it’s time to go with Horn.

I can live with Schrader if you fix the other 2. Its time for Drink to show he can make a switch at QB.

Simple…winning season next year or Drink needs to be gone.

Predictable, boring and cringe worthy football with a strange loyalty complex to an average QB. Why not see what Horn can do in what is seemingly an insignificant game? However, by not playing Horn, Drink ends up drawing scrutiny in what could have been an exhibition game to see what he has for next year. That game is Drink’s three years in a nutshell…Busch League! Win 7 games next year or go back to Dungeons and Dragons nerd. Win 8 or more and I won’t post again for a few years. 😬😂

FOOTBALL Drink play calling + mental game

Par for the course with Drink tonight. Pretty unfortunate he hasn’t developed at all in this department. Hopefully we get some OL help this off-season but Drink leaves a lot to be desired when he controls the play calling.

Also - the continued mental blunders with penalties are inexcusable. Fix it because it’s been a reoccurring theme for a few seasons now.

Will be optimistic for next season with the talent we have and a year of maturity. Just need Drink to develop more than the talent at this point.
