1. When you scrape away all the KU/MU non sense, this was nothing but an opportunity game for MU. Making the tournament is still very much in reach.

2. Kobe Brown right now at least can't be counted on. We know against grossly inferior competition he can go off for 20 and 10. But thats not when we need him. Our two toughest games to date Wichita State and KU, he was a no show. So much so Gates benched him for significant minutes in the second half. He has been a disappointment this year, no other way around it.

3. Mosley been discussed but the mystery surrounding him is at best annoying. If I pay for a ticket my only expectation in return is an honest effort when I show for the event. But, but if I also pay extra for NIL seems likenex I should get a seat at the table, at least knowing what is going on with the players I am writing checks for. Needs to be a two way street. Especially at a school like MU where you don't consistently win. If I pay $, and we don't win, I need to know why, don't even argue with me on that one.

4. Diarra, or whatever the spelling, what an incredible disappointment. Maybe he contributes next year, but, his need will never be greater than this year, at least we hope. Is it only a lack of talent, speed of the game issue or discipline problems? I don't know just seems so odd that he hasnt played but a minute or two since maybe the first game of the year.

5. I believe today's game will do a lot to get us ready for SEC play. I believe in this coach and the team as a whole. I expect they will learn greatly from this. I also think KU is a top 5 team who had their very best game today.

6. I expect them to lose only one, maybe two, home conference games this year and do enough on the road to make the conference tournament meaningful as for making the big tournament. Like, wind maybe two and we are in.

7. As hopeful as I am, I think Illinois will be close to this ugly.

This was my overall impression of last night. Starting with DRF challenging the students to support other programs for seat priority, to HCED bringing pizzas and hanging out with the students, to Truman descending from the rafters, to drunk adults yelling obscenities that made absolutely no sense but definitely included the word fvck, to watching the team and coaches stay for the alma mater in an almost empty arena. People care about Mizzou basketball for the first time in over 8 years. HCDG is the right guy and like Charles Barkley said once we get the Jimmy's and the Joe's the victories will come. This program was dead and now it has life. MIZ!

I hadn’t been to a basketball game for a few years but, went down yesterday to see the Border War. A few observations.

Student atmosphere was great. Great attendance overall.

The concession lines were very long. We waited 20 minutes on two separate occasions but, this was 30 minutes before it started and halftime the two busiest times.

There was no wifi and limited cell phone service. I had cell phone service my brother in law didn’t.

The poster give aways were good, everyone wanted one showcasing the border war.

that doesn't change the fact that this is year one and when Gates has guys he recruited for more than about ten minutes the team will be more talented and (presumably) better defensively.

-Mizzou's defense was significantly better in the second half, but its offense was just as bad. The shot selection was poor, which hadn't really been an issue before this game. The ball movement wasn't nearly as good. It was their worst night shooting inside the arc, a place they rarely missed through the first nine games. Mizzou could've played the best defense the Jayhawks had seen all season and I'm not sure they would've scored enough to keep it close.

-Many of the players didn't step up to the moment, but a few did. Nick Honor was one of them. He hasn't had a huge scoring night all year long, but he's probably been the team's most consistent player night-to-night. It doesn't matter if he's playing against SEMO or Kansas, you know what you're getting from Honor.

-What surprised me the most was that the Jayhawks almost had twice as many points off turnovers than Mizzou. The Tigers obviously usually score a lot of points on the fast break, but they also usually do a better job of getting back and defending in transition. That wasn't the case today.

-It's safe to say Mizzou isn't a top-10 team, but I'm not sure anyone really thought they were heading into tonight. I think it still remains to be seen how far outside the top 10 they actually are, though and I still don't think this loss automatically removes them from the NCAA tournament discussion. But they will no doubt have to play better with three more top-17 teams coming up in the next four games. We'll learn a lot more about this team in that stretch.

*There's a lot of competition for Mizzou's worst player in that half:

*Look this was always possible. I'm not going to murder them for Kansas running them off the court. They're better. But they also looked so much more prepared and able to handle this atmosphere. Missouri looked panicked from the start.

*I said this morning the atmosphere could go any number of ways. If we're being honest, it was too big for Mizzou.

*The offense wasn't good but it wasn't awful. They got a lot of layups. The stats say Mizzou shot 8/16 on layups. It seemed far worse than that. They were 3/13 from three. That also seemed far worse.

*But I'm not sure the offense even mattered. Missouri was HORRIFIC on defense. You can credit Kansas for some of it. Bill Self ran a clinic. They got the ball legitimately anywhere they wanted to. It looked like they had five point guards on the floor. But at some point feel free to step in front of someone. Feel free to guard the back door. Feel free not to leave the shooters wide open.

*I don't know what's going on with Isiaih Mosley. I wish I did. But the truth is we show up every day and we don't know if he's going to play any better than you do. It's my opinion Dennis Gates should give you guys some idea what's going on, but it doesn't seem likely he's going to.

*Twenty minutes left. Anything can happen. If this crowd has anything to say about it, they'll drag Missouri back into this. I'm honestly not sure how it happens though. I've seen nothing to indicate Missouri can get enough stops to get within 10, much less make it close.

Stop making it bigger than what it is. We are losing the PR battle with ku right now. Between the narrative that we didn't want to play football and making this game a huge deal, it's getting a little embarrassing. We need to crawl before we walk in both major sports right now.

Missouri is set to host Katy (Texas) Paetow safety CJ Johnson for an official visit on Dec. 16-18. Johnson will also see Auburn on Jan. 13-15 and is setting up a trip to Nebraska. Of note, Johnson is the cousin of former Texas A&M four-star running back LJ Johnson Jr. who is currently in the transfer portal.

How would you fill in the blank? Once the opposition is able to set their half-court offense, they appear to have their way. Is that because of our lack of size? Is there a flaw in their scheme? Is it lack of communication and not enough comfort in playing with each other? I'm searching for answers....

It appears that Gates is not so concerned on the sidelines, so should I stop being concerned?

Within 4 possessions it was obvious Mizzou couldn't match. Crowd wasn't into it because of the lead.

This is a team thrown together in 3 months against a hall of fame coach that has been building his roster for decades. We will get there with Gates.

Doesn’t mean the season is over. I never expected a W in this one anyway. 95-67 is the same thing as 95-94 would’ve been.

A roster constructed in ten weeks over a summer is 9-1 with the only L against the #6 team in the country. I’ll take that.

Look, if we’re able to spend any amount of time on the bubble in mid to late February, then this season was a wild success, whether we make the tournament or not.

It’s game number ten in year number one. Relax.

Very happy I’ve saved 20 hours of my life this year.
