Basketball '24 class

What would be your ideal 3-4 man class for the 2024 class? I think I would go with John Bol (has taken OV), Jarin Stevenson (has OV scheduled this month), Marcus Allen (has taken OV), and T.O Barrett at guard. Seems like the staff has had far less options at guard but the wing/forward/post options are numerous.

Bol seems to fit a lot of what the staff wanted in Sharp. Watched him on ESPN this week and was a defensive monster in limited minutes due to foul trouble. Stevenson has an advanced offensive game. Kid is a pro. Can shoot it well at his size perfect modern 4 in the NBA. Allen would be a defensive wing stopper. Jumper not great but gets to the rim. Barrett has good length for a guard. Haven't watched anything on him really.

Punt Returns in 2023

Perhaps my biggest pet peeve in football is allowing the punt to hit the ground when it can be caught. I am sure there is a stat somewhere, but I guess the average loss of field position is around 15 yards. In my years of watching Tiger football, I rank Marcus James the best at quickly recognizing where he needed to scoot to in order to make the catch (and then making the catch), and minimizing the extra yardage allowed by unfielded punts. I suspect a factor in Burden being the primary MU punt return man this last year was the need to get him enough touches to keep him happy. I hope he gets enough touches at WR that the staff does not feel compelled to use him on punt returns OR (even better) he gets a lot better at moving up to make the catch. I am not wildly optimisitic about the latter, as his multiple drops on the short crossing route make me skeptical about his hands. There is little doubt at his ability to make people miss and get the extra yardage, but I sure hope we see big improvement in the hands department.

BASKETBALL Mizzou stays at #20

A big opportunity to solidify the ranking this week. 2-0 would like push you into the Top 15.

SIAP: Banister Interview

Really solid interview with Banister on the Eye on the Tigers Podcast. It's about a third of the way through. Worth the listen.

BASKETBALL Rest of January Predictions

Six games remaining in the month, Torvik has us favored in three of them, here are the spreads and win percentages.
@A&M +0.3, 49%
@Florida +2.5, 41%
Arkansas -2.1, 57%
Bama +2.5, 42%
@Ole Miss -2.1, 58%
ISU -2.7, 61%

Lots of toss ups in this stretch. In my opinion, 2-4 wouldn’t be the end of the world here, as the rest of the season minus @Auburn and @Tennessee seems is not as much of a gauntlet as this next stretch. What would you guys hope for and expect by the end of the month?

Tollison

I realize that every topic gets attention and answers, but is there a general consensus as to the performance issues last year? What was up with the weight issue? We know rivals rankings did not reflect what we read (offers??)…but he evidently had several blue blood offers, at OT no less.

Do we believe that putting on good weight and switching positions will lead to improvements?

FOOTBALL RECRUITING ***FORMER FLORIDA DB TRE'VEZ JOHNSON COMMITS TO MIZZOU***

Missouri adds talented DB transfer from Florida, who chose Mizzou over the likes of Auburn and South Carolina

FOOTBALL RECRUITING UPDATED SCHOLARSHIP

Think they're at 87 with the addition of Tre'Vez Johnson and Marcellus Johnson and adding Nate Peat back in, then taking Trajan Jeffcoat off. I'm sure I've made a mistake here somewhere and I'm sure someone will catch it

BASKETBALL Yes, it's another Mosley post

I asked Dennis Gates since Mosley wasn't with the team on game day for the first time at Arkansas if anything had changed with his situation.

"I'll say the same thing, respect his privacy. I appreciate the question."

So there you go. Because something changed (him not being there) I felt it warranted asking. That's the answer. So on we go
