FOOTBALL The deep dive: Week 6 defensive lines

Let's flip over to the defense for our last day of previews before game day. Here's a look at the defensive lines.

Linebackers will be out at noon and defensive backs will be out at 6 p.m.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING Mizzou offers Class of 2026 three-star WR

Jacob Peeler added an Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore WR to his offer list Wednesday in three-star Kenyon Alston.

Alston -- a 6-foot-2, 175-pound route runner -- is ranked 54th at his position. Missouri is the third SEC program to offer Alston, joining Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Class of 2025 weakside defensive end Tobi Haastrup announced he will be taking an official visit to Missouri from Oct. 18-20 (Auburn). Dakotah Terrell is also taking an OV then.

Haastrup -- a Houston area prospect -- has been recruited by defensive line coach Brian Early, who coached at the University of Houston before he joined the Tigers.

BASKETBALL Hoops coverage

Just checking in with the new staff to see what the plan is for hoops coverage and analysis. I know I'm not in the majority and subscribed to this site years ago specifically for hoops coverage and recruiting news. And I realize it's still the first week with the new staff and right before the biggest football game of the season (so far). But I find it odd there has been no mention (to my knowledge) of any sort of plan to cover hoops. Both PowerMizzou and RockMNation published player and opponent reviews and some recruiting updates this week. With the start of the season a month out, is there any plan for pre-season coverage? Thanks!

FOOTBALL The deep dive: Week 6 offensive lines

Last one today. Like I said in the running back post, these will be more spread out in the future, but today you get three and tomorrow you get three more!

Take a look at how the big boys up front match up this week.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING *** 2026 WR KENYON ALSTON DISCUSSES MIZZOU OFFER ***

As mentioned, I talked with Kenyon Alston yesterday. Missouri has been in touch with him since the contact period opened in June, but an offer just hit the table this week.

@John Garcia Jr. also has more on the three-star wide receiver:

FOOTBALL Quarterback deep dive

I'll admit I got a little carried away having fun with PFF stats. Since this is the first one of these, I'd be happy to hear if there are adjustments in focus or anything else in this type of article you'd like to see.

I took a deeper look into comparing the quarterback matchup as the Tigers prepare for Texas A&M.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING Class of 2027 four-star talks uptick in SEC offers, visits

There's not much here from Adryan Cole since he's a sophomore (Class of 2027) and can't talk with coaches, but the Tigers offered the four-star this past summer. Cole also mentioned he wants to visit Columbia next summer.

I didn't put *** in front of/after the title or capitalize given it's not the biggest update.

Welcome to MizzouToday, the Missouri Tigers' home on Rivals!

Welcome to MizzouToday, the home for University of Missouri coverage on Rivals! With increased success across Missouri’s athletics programs, it is an exciting time to be a fan of the Tigers. However, as newspapers are cutting sports writers, editors, photographers, etc., professional coverage of the University’s athletic teams is dwindling. In the online publication industry, Missouri has many fewer outlets covering it than its SEC counterparts.

So, today we launch MizzouToday! The name implies immediacy, and our focus will be on bringing you all the Missouri storylines you want to know about when, or before, they happen. MizzouToday will help shine a brighter spotlight on the school’s athletics programs and recruiting, while continuing to foster this already well-established community of Mizzou fans. We have assembled a team of journalists who already have strong ties to the University and experience covering this beat.

Kyle McAreavy is the lead team reporter for MizzouToday! He has been in sports media for eight years, most recently with the Jefferson City News-Tribune where he has covered the University of Missouri football and basketball beat for each of the last three seasons. Kyle lives in Columbia and also has experience covering the baseball team and other varsity sports. With a degree in multimedia journalism, Kyle is passionate about telling stories through a variety of mediums. Writing, however, is where Kyle does some of his best work, as his articles and content on these forums will showcase.

Kenny Van Doren is a University of Missouri Journalism School graduate, and one of the top up-and-coming recruiting reporters in our industry! He will be leading all recruiting coverage for MizzouToday. This is Kenny’s second stint with Rivals. He spent some time covering LSU recruiting for Death Valley Insider, before moving over to MLB.com to cover Major League Baseball’s farm system. Throughout, Kenny has co-hosted a Missouri podcast, The Unwritten Rule, that is now in its eighth season. Kenny’s passion for documenting how teams are built and telling those stories will set him apart in this industry.

Additionally, you will see other contributors as well as Rivals national staff providing coverage here at MizzouToday. The focus will always be on you, the audience, and bringing you closer to Missouri athletics and other Mizzou fans. Kyle and Kenny will both be in the press box this Saturday when the Tigers travel to College Station in the weekend’s only matchup of Top 25 teams. It will be a great start to a new era in Mizzou coverage!

FOOTBALL RECRUITING *** MIZZOU, TEXAS A&M PROJECTED STARTERS AS RECRUITS ***

Here are the projected starters for Missouri and Texas A&M as recruits. The Aggies have "OR" listed a handful of times on their Week 6 depth chart, so I combed through other websites to see who has regularly started on their defense.

Survivor Pool 2024: Week 6

Another week, another field cut almost completely in half. Sadly, your great games maker has fallen this week after believing Miami was different this year (idiot). 9 were eliminated and 11 will move on as survivors.

Special note for the rest of the Survivor Pool: IF PM were to migrate to another platform, this pool would follow suit and be posted there. I will post both places until my membership goes dark here. 100% transparency, it could be triggered at the same time a switch occurs, if/when it does. So if you don't already have your bags packed, pm me for an alternate way to get your picks in. Good luck to the final eleven!

Rules:

1. No edits or picks will be accepted after Thursday, October 3rd at 7 PM. A late pick or edit past the deadline and you will be eliminated. NO EXCEPTIONS.
2. Have to pick against the spread (ATS).
3. This will be top 25 games only. Meaning it has to feature a game with a top 25 team, but you may pick either team against the spread.
4. I will post the lines you must pick against. If the line changes, it does not matter. You are picking against the original lines I post and they will not change once posted (unless I make an obvious error of course. In which case, I will tag you as soon as possible letting you know the line has changed).
5. A push = survive.
6. Feel free to ride the same team all year. No restrictions on how many times you may choose a team.
7. Every week I'll post the survivors and who got eliminated.

Tiebreaker Rules

1. If all remaining survivors make a bad pick, the person with the closest pick wins.
2. If 2 or more people share the closest pick, those people will move on as survivors.
