FOOTBALL Courtney Crutchfield continues growing pipeline from Pine Bluff

I talked with Courtney Crutchfield at the All-American Bowl in January, and although he's unlikely to contribute much to the offense the remainder of the season, he's still the next Pine Bluff product on the cusp of becoming a regular contributor.

Questions as I consider my options

I have a few questions to help me consider my options during this transition. I think they're relevant and suspect others might have the same. These might have been covered in other threads, but I was hoping to consolidate it here.

1. What will coverage of the football team look like and who is doing this? I'm not talking about recruiting, I'm talking about coverage of the team/games/results. I'm also wanting to know how long whomever will be responsible for this has covered the Tigers and what kind of connection they have to the program?

2. What will coverage of football recruiting look like and who is responsible for this? What kind of connections and sources do they have?

3. What's the plan for basketball coverage, both the team and recruiting?

4. What kind of message board features can we expect ("10 thoughts" as an example)?

5. What are the rules for posts? There's the OT board which isn't for the faint of heart and covers anything. Will that remain? What about the team-specific posts we have on the main message board (Chiefs, Cardinals, etc.). Can those posts stay?

6. What is the plan for coverage of any non-football/men's basketball program at the University?

I'm sure there's more, but these questions jump out at me right away. Thanks for the response.

FOOTBALL The 3-2-1: Observations, questions and a prediction

Kyle's column takes an in-depth look at where Missouri is coming off the bye week and heading into a Top 25 matchup in College Station this weekend:

What's a fresh vision for this place?

It might be coming, but a suggestion for you – give us a vision for what this place is going to be. What's the brand? What's going to make it uniquely valuable? What would you like to have us telling our friends about your site?

It's a great opportunity to inherit all of us, and I think for the most part you have people ready to see something new. Good luck!

To those of you who are sticking around – what ideas would you offer for something NEW around here?

Hi everyone!

Welcome to MizzouToday, my name is Kyle McAreavy and I'll be your new senior editor for team coverage.

I'm excited to be part of such a great community that has built up around Mizzou sports and to get to bring you all the coverage you're looking for surrounding the school.
On that note, I'm always open to input about what type of stories you guys are looking for. I want to make sure I'm getting you all the content you want to read.

I grew up around Seattle, went to Oklahoma State and have worked at a couple of local papers since graduating, most recently at the Jefferson City News Tribune where I covered Mizzou football, basketball and other sports for the past three years. I've already had some great times covering the Tigers and I expect I'll have a lot more very quickly with the direction many of the school's programs are heading.

I know a lot of you came for Gabe and the change was unexpected. I couldn't have more respect for the work he has put in building this wonderful community and the coverage he has done of Missouri sports.
I look forward to continuing the great coverage you've come to expect here.

There's already a couple of my stories popping onto the site so you can all get a feel for my writing as we go through this transition and there's a lot more to come soon.

If you have any questions, let me know!

I, for one, welcome our new Mizzou Today overlord

As arguably the most respected member of the Mizzou Today message board (love the name BTW), I am honored to officially welcome Kyle as our new fearless leader.

The place has needed a facelift for some time now so your arrival is very timely, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the place. There might be some grumbling from a few bad apples, and I recommend you take swift and decisive action with them. I’m happy to find some one on one time to get you up to speed on the posters to watch out for - I suspect there may be several Gabe loyalists lying in the weeds that must be dealt with immediately.

Your wish is my command, my liege.

Gabe's Way

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all, and I stood tall
And did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh, no, oh, no, not me
I did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way
Yes, it was my way

RIP RIVALS POWERMIZZOU

FOOTBALL Benefits of the bye week story

Although they went undefeated, the Tigers had some clear issues through the first third of the season. Luckily they had a perfectly-timed bye to take care of those fixable problems before heading into the toughest portion of the year.

FOOTBALL 810 and Lance Leipold blame refs for ku losses

Steven St, John and Nate Bukaty kiss Lance Leipold’s ass this morning.

No challenging questions. Simply blame all of ku’s losing on the refs.

This is the same Nate Bukaty that says complaining about the refs is for losers when Cheatin’ Bill Self and ku get every call to go their way at afh.

Be better @stevenstjohn
