I was out driving today and was listening to Gary Barnett on the Border Patrol... cause me to have a couple of thoughts
First, Gary did not think the NMSU game would be a walkover like the spread would indicate (27.5). Has concerns about our ability to score and thinks our teams are very similar. While it SHOULD be an easy game... the offense is going to have to score more than the trademark 17 points for us to walk away with it. Question is... will we score in the 20's or 30's? And will our lead be comfortable enough to play the backups.
Which brings me to the other thought. After talking about Mizzou the show went on to talk about kU and KSU and how their backup QB's are so reliable and doing so well. The coaches for Missouri, kU and KSU have been in place for relatively the same amount of time. How is it that those two coaches can have 2 productive QB's each, and we don't have 1? How is it that KSU is in the running for the B12 title game and we fight to stay out of the basement? And kU... what a turnaround. If I am an outsider, I have to say kU and KSU have something figured out and that Mizzou is still lost... and that all those who say it takes 4-5 years to "turn it around" may be making excuses. Looking inward I can see things to make me feel good about the program. But when we look around at the neighbors.... something does not feel right.
While it is only NMSU, we need a statemen win and our backups in the game early. Trouble is, I am not so convinced that we can do that.
We continue the Pigskin talk as we chat with former CFB Head Coach Gary Barnett about last week's and this Saturday slate of football and then Mike DiPasquale joined to make his picks for the weekend against Nate
