For those who put everything on the QB

2022 Brady Cook (10 games): 182/280 (65%), 2012 yards, 7.8 ypa, 8 TD, 7 INT, 201.2 ypg
100 carries, 338 yards, 5 TD

2014 Maty Mauk (14 games): 221/414 (53.4%), 2648 yards, 25 TD, 13 INT, 189.1 ypg
108 carries, 373 yards, 2 TD

The 2014 team had an elite defense and two 900-yard rushers. The 2022 team has a good defense and two running backs who have COMBINED for 900 yards

As I've said all year, Cook isn't good enough...but some have made it way, way, way too simplistic

FOOTBALL OC is the least of our concerns

Any time you lose a game, fans automatically start blaming coaching & playcalling. As if y’all know any better

We’ve been just fine schematically this year. You all think if we just switch to some magic bullet offense that all of our issues would be solved?? Bullshit

Fact of the matter is, we can’t block anything. Connor Wood & Javon Foster have turned into human turnstiles. Delgado is mid. Tollison is hearty but terrible. We’ve been a revolving door at the RG spot. What plays work when you can’t block the other guys?

you guys piss & moan about how we only run our offense side to side. Well no fkin shit. Teams can be -1 in the box and we still can’t handle them. We don’t want to put the onus on the interiors unless it’s wide open. Get the ball out now to a fast guy & run the hell away from the OL

You want to fault not getting OL? Do it

you want to fault Marcus Johnson for allowing Foster & Wood to forget how to play OL? Do it

But save me the “drink needs to find an OC” bullshit. No OC is going to come in and save our season unless we upgrade to being at least average up front. We’re using as much mixed tempo, smoke & mirrors, and misdirections as possible to negate the huge physical mismatches every week.

Jimmie’s & Joes will beat X’s & O’s

BASKETBALL STATS THAT STOOD OUT AGAINST SIU EDWARDSVILLE

I've crunched the numbers, run the metrics, checked the analytics and can finally confirm that Kobe Brown did, in fact, have two fouls.

Roll Call for Arky

I’m flying home to KC for Thanksgiving and am hoping to make it to the game Friday.

Who here will be going? Do any of you gather pre-game?

I would love to connect in person and share a beer. Or three.

It was a bummer that the 2020 Arrowhead game didn’t happen aa I was really looking forward to it. Alas my trip home got canceled too, so…

Anyway, let me know.

FOOTBALL TODAY: Gary Barnett at KC Tiger Club

After two years of joining us via Zoom, we are very pleased to welcome former Tiger Gary Barnett back to Kansas City. Gary has graciously flown in from his home in Boulder to be our guest speaker for many, many years now. He is always, informative, entertaining, and candid.
We meet at the Westport Flea Market, beginning with our optional luncheon buffet at 11:30 and program at noon.

I KNOW it’s 4 pretty weak opponents…BUT

Holy hell this team can score. Would run last year’s team completely out of the gym. Not sure how things will play out against tougher competition but this is already night and day. They have several legit scorers that can go off for 10-15 on a given night and get you a bucket: (forgive me if I forget one) Carter Kobe Dmoi Mosley East Gomillion Honor

Still have a ton to prove but an incredibly encouraging start to the DENNIS era

BASKETBALL A FEW POSTGAME THOUGHTS: MIZZOU 105, SIUE 80

That game didn't seem as close as even the 25 point final score.

*Mizzou has had at least four players in double figures in every single game. Eight different players have already scored at least ten points in a game.

*This is the most points Missouri has scored in a game since putting 116 on Central Arkansas in 2010. Which means it is the most Missouri has ever scored as a member of the SEC.

*All of that means this team is going to be fun to watch. I doubt there will be many more 25 point wins, but they're gonna score. I bet this isn't the last time they hit 100. I bet they also give up 100 at some point.

*Here are things I don't miss:

Shot clock violations
Picking up the dribble at halfcourt
Final scores in the 50s

*I'm not sure I've ever seen Missouri play 15 players in a basketball game. I'm sure it's happened, but not often. Not one of them played more than 27 minutes.

*Kobe Brown played eight minutes. That's actually a good thing. You won't be able to have it happen against real competition, but it's nice to basically give him a night off, especially when it's the third game in five days. By the way, he scored 12 points in those eight minutes.

*The turnovers (15) are a little higher than I bet Dennis Gates would like. But if you play at this pace, it's going to happen sometimes. You can live with it when the other team has 21 and you turn those into 26 points.

*Only real concern is the fouling. I would write it off to a quick whistle, but they've been called for quite a few in other games. No way SIUE should come in here and shoot 35 free throws. Maybe some of them were ticky-tack calls...but they weren't all ticky-tack calls.

BASKETBALL This is way more fun

Is it a bit erratic at times and out of control? Are we small and struggle on the boards? You bet………but give me the up tempo in your face pressure and let it fly basketball every day of the week vs whatever the hell we watched last few years.

Idk if this team will be any good in league play but I can at least enjoy watching it without fear of being down 10 with no hope of coming back.

BASKETBALL This Team and Season Goals

Admittedly, I am a sunshine pumper. I am an eternal optimist when it comes to MU bball. That said, I like this team. A lot... I am not sure they are a tournament team. But they are a team that will not get blown out nightly. They will be in most games. And thats what you want this year. They have some athletes and lo and behold, they play together and actually run an offense. Pretty refreshing after the last few years.

I think making the postseason (NIT or NCAA) should be the goal. I dont think its unreasonable to believe that this team can be in the NIT. Making the NCAA would be overachieving for sure. I also think finishing in the top 8 in the SEC is a stretch but achievable as well.

In terms of talent, they have some horses finally. Some guys that can score the ball whether driving or shooting from outside. I get that they havent played a good team yet but you can see the talent vs previous years. If they can take that raw talent and polish it into a cohesive attacking basketball team is going to be the question and will ultimately tell the tale of the season.

I for one am just thrilled to be excited this year and believing that our goals are attainable. LFG!
